PUMA – Arsenal kit launch

PUMA – Arsenal away kit launch

I was recently asked to work with Immersive LTD once again to provide all the animation content for the Arsenal 2015 / 2016 away kit launch for PUMA in Singapore. Content of the 3 Arsenal shirts was projected onto a 3.6 meter torso that stood in front of a 10 meter back wall of LED, which had to work together in order to give maximum impact. I was actually in charge of all the creative aspects of the project for Immersive and with possibly the tightest deadline Ive ever worked on, it was an extreme challenge but we pulled it off and PUMA was extremeley happy with the end result. They actually gave some amazing feedback, saying “The creative execution was a vision that I honestly thought was beyond our means when first presented, but in retrospect lifted up our eyes to a vision and idea that stands alone in my mind as the best PR stunt event we’ve ever done.” This video is a quick edit of the show by PUMA. Immersive LTD’s edit of the show

Heres a snippet from some other footage of the event which shows more of the content I created. The start of the animation is not in this edit. Apart from the the main 2 minute reveal animation I also created the Arsenal logo animations, as well as many holding state loops and some clips that combined some VTs from Arsenal FC and the lightning energy effect which was the theme of this years launch.

Full Animation

Here is the complete animation. In order to appreciate the full quality of the animation, I did this edit which simulates the back LED screen and torso in 3D space.

TIMBERLAND Flyroam Sneaker Launch

This is a short montage of the animation content I created for the new Flyroam sneaker launch event for Timberland. The concept was very simple but huge fun to work on! It was to focus on the textures, surfaces and patterns of the new sneaker. Those being the heel, sole, leather and laces of the shoe. Any animations I made were VJ’d at the event and projected onto the stage and architecture at the secret party near Tower Bridge in London. This was one of my favourite jobs so far to work on!

Photos from the Launch Event

These are some photos from the launch where you can see some of my content projected onto the screens on stage and around the venue.

L’Acoustics Brand Logo Animation

A few months ago I made a logo animation for L’Acoustics, a high end, 3d immersive sound company. The work they do to create a completely immersive sound experience for live shows and events is truly mind blowing! Had the privilege to get a demo at their offices in North London and my mouth was on the floor. Was UNREAL! Let me know thoughts or comment if you want more info on the project. Also listen out for some awesome multi channel sound design by the composer Nick Ryan!

Audi Sport – TVC

Worked with Hello Savants from Amsterdam on this TV Commercial for Formula-E in Spain. I only really did some subtle VFX and particles but I had to share this as it was great fun to work on, and I really loved working with the Savants on this. Great team of creatives!

Parklife Festival Promo

Parklife 2018 Festival Promo

This festival promo gives a taste of what one of the new stages at this years Parklife Festival is going to look like. The stage design by Lucid Illusions is AMAZING. It includes 2 tower blocks either side of the stage, with a bridge linking them, and shops with neon signs and frontages with video billboards above. The concept for the stage design was inspired by Blade Runner and similar sci-fi influences of a dystopian future world. My animation was meant to be a really quick turn around but once I started adding details it was tricky to stop. Great fun though !

Vancouver Sleep Clinic music video

Vancouver Sleep Clinic Music Video “Someone To Stay”

I recently worked with Agile Films once again to create some super subtle VFX elements for Vancouver Sleep Clinic’s new music video for a track entitled “Someone To Stay”.

When I say subtle, I mean subtle. The initial shots of the video just required tiny amounts of dust particles floating around the lead signer’s hands which he interacts with. Initially I started with a look that was more detailed and had slight elements of colour, but the directors comments were always “less dust”.

The look she was going for was an understated approach which complimented the style of the video. As the video progresses the dust becomes a ghostly entity which the singer eventually wrestles with. I also worked on some clean up of some unwanted elements in the original footage and in total probably worked on around 30 shots.

These kinds of minimal VFX jobs are always the toughest as they require so much minor attention to detail, but can be the most satisfying as well. I really enjoyed the challenge and the client and band were over the moon with the end result. Check out some stills from the video below, which include some close ups of the hands showing some more detailed look developments from early on in the project.

Power Tree

Utilita Power Tree Promo

I recently created this animated promo video for Live Nation on behalf of the energy company Utilita, which was to showcase the Power Tree area of Parklife Festival in Manchester. A place to charge your phones and chill but also to a have a little dance to a DJ playing tunes from his tree house DJ booth !

It was a blast to work on because I had complete creative freedom with everything. Even picking the audio and editing it. The client was receptive to all my ideas and loved the colorful style which reflected the Parklife branding. Love jobs where I can really play with the 3D render layers in post and editing to music. More projects like this please!

Eric Prydz “Generate” Hologram

Eric Prydz “Generate” Hologram

This is a hologram animation I did for Eric Prydz ” EPIC 3.0 ” Hologram show at Madison Square Garden NYC. This was a landmark, groundbreaking show which used the largest hologram in the world, with all content rendered at 4K. This time the brief was to create something more organic, with DNA and molecules creating quite abstract undulating forms which then evolve to metallic flowing shapes. Together with the hologram I created some track specific back wall VJ content. Once again it was a short 3 week deadline but it turned out well, the show was a success and the client was very happy.

Eric Prydz HOLO intro

Eric Prydz live show intro

For the Eric Prydz HOLO show intro I had to create 2 sets of visuals for which it was crucial they worked together for maximum impact, one set of visuals for the massive scale LED back wall structure and one for the main focus of the show which was intended to be a hologram screen .The creative brief was to create something with a tech / futuristic / space visual style which would best suite Eric Prydz’s custom intro audio and which would build and grow constantly right up to the high intensity, finale of the intro.
One of the challenges of working with the Hologram screen is that we are trying to give the illusion that what ever is shown on the transparent screen surface is seemingly floating in mid-air, in order to do this the main focus of the animation is usually in the center of the frame because if any of the visual elements touch the edges, the illusion of these 3d objects is lost.

Back wall LED animation

Creating content for the back wall LED screens had their own set of creative and technical challenges. In order to create the feeling of forward motion through space first immersive had to create an accurate, to scale set of templates which insure that when we moved a virtual 3d camera it would create an illusion of forward movement for the viewer as well. The 3 dimensional nature of the LED stage screen design meant that by designing a sort of tunnel and high speed warp effect which builds to a fast paced frenzied climax, the audience will be faced with a truly immersive, awe inspiring visual experience on a super massive scale.

There is also a Creators Project article on the show which further explains the details of the project.

Chase & Status feat Major Lazer “Pressure”

Chase & Status feat Major Lazer “Pressure” live tour visuals

Chase & Status got in touch with Immersive to produce VFX video content for new tracks for their world tour. I created the video for the track “Pressure”, a Chase & Status collaboration with Major Lazer. It was the shortest turn around Ive ever delivered and was indeed a test. The deadline was just 2.5 weeks which included concept, animation and directing the live shoot of the artist doing the vocal performance. Luckily everything went to plan and I am very proud of the end product.

Chase and Status live show

These are some images that Antonio Pagano took for Immersive during some of the live shows. Again this puts the visuals into context and gives an idea of their intended end use. In the images you can also get a sense of the scale of the live show.
